What are the three layers that determine halal status?

First, ingredients — every component must come from halal sources, including the small ones people overlook, like flavourings and emulsifiers. Second, premises and process — the kitchen or factory itself: equipment not shared with non-halal production, workflows that prevent cross-contact, and consistent hygiene. Third, certification — an authority audits the first two layers and issues a certificate as independent confirmation. The layers are genuinely separate: food can be made of halal ingredients yet processed on questionable premises, which is exactly why certification looks at the premises too.

What is Melaka Halal Hub?

Melaka Halal Hub is an industrial park in Serkam, Melaka, dedicated to halal food and product manufacturers. Operating inside a hub like this means the factory sits in an ecosystem designed for halal production from the ground up — from neighbouring factories to the park’s own requirements. Our factory has operated here since June 2026 (Plot 31 & 32, Jalan EP Serkam 9, 77300 Serkam). Location is not a certificate — it does not replace product certification — but it shows commitment starting at the premises layer.

How do you verify a product’s halal certification?

Malaysia runs an official halal verification portal open to everyone: halal.gov.my. You can search a company or product name and see its certification status directly from the authority — no need to rely on what packaging or advertising says. It is the most reliable way to check any brand, and we encourage you to use it. For buyers outside Malaysia: the Malaysian authority also publishes which foreign certification bodies it recognises, which is useful when comparing products from different countries.

Buying online: how can you actually be confident?

On Shopee, TikTok Shop or any web store, product photos alone tell you little. Four things you can check from home:

• The real company behind the store — a registered entity with a company number you can look up (ours: DAPOGO FOOD INDUSTRIES SDN. BHD., 1604406-W).
• A production address stated openly, not just “our factory”.
• Certification status through the official portal above.
• A channel where a real person answers questions.

Why do the premises matter, not just the ingredients?

This is the layer most often misunderstood. Picture a sambal where every listed ingredient is halal — but it is cooked in pans and equipment shared with non-halal production, without proper cleansing between runs. The final status is compromised even though the ingredient list reads clean. That is why certification never stops at purchase receipts: it audits workflows, storage, equipment and staff practices on the premises. For a buyer, the lesson is simple — “what is in it?” needs a companion question, “where and how was it made?”. The two carry equal weight, and it is why a dedicated halal manufacturing park exists at all.
